I don't want every instrument to be perfectly clean, or every production to sound the same.

I'll preserve the imperfections that give your music character — and break a few rules when it makes the song better.

    Fix the things that matter before you spend money recording them.

    Pre-production can be one of the most valuable parts of the process.

    If you're unsure about the arrangement, instrumentation, sounds or vocal approach, or songwriting assistance, let's sort it out before you spend money recording everything.

  • Recording

    Full tracking facilities for all instruments including vocals.

  • Mastering

    Final polish, without turning your record into a brick.

About

I've been doing this since I was 15.

I've been writing songs, performing and mixing music since I was 15.

My job as a mixer and producer is to take that raw thing you've created and help turn it into a song with a personality.

I'm experienced. I'm obsessive about your sound.

I'll tell you when I think something isn't working and I'll listen when you tell me I'm wrong. I'll work with you to make the record yours.

FAQ

Do I need a perfectly recorded song?

No. A great recording helps, but I'm more interested in whether there's something worth preserving. If you're unsure, send it anyway.

How much does a mix cost?

$300 NZD per song, including up to two mix revisions.

If you're making multiple songs, I'll offer a better project rate.

Do you master?

Yes. $75.

I can deliver the final master as part of the project.

Do you record?

Yes. We have a tracking space and vocal booth. We can record anything.

Recording is $50/hour.

What do I send you?

Your recorded tracks/stems, preferably organised and clearly labelled.

If you're unsure how to prepare them, I'll tell you what I need.

Nerdy Stuff

For the people who want to know what's under the hood

The studio is equipped with world-class analogue recording gear and suite of microphones including Neumann, Shure, Lauten Audio, AKG and more.

Artists can use a selection of acoustic, electric and bass guitars, electric piano, keyboards, drum kits, synths, guitar pedals, percussion and more.

The recording system is an RME Fireface. DAW is Waveform Tracktion.

32 Channel Mackie automated mixing desk.

Main monitoring is Hedd Audio.
